Usher brightens my day and I hope it does the same for you. I know the lyrics are depressing, but his voice is so soothing.
Enjoy!

Online Portfolio
I finally did it! I finally made an online portfolio. You can view it here. The site includes my resume, (some) writing samples, and links to this site, Twitter and LinkedIn. I think I need to find a better way to display my writing samples, but for the time being using PDFs works well. If you have any better suggestions please let me know.
Check it out and send me a note! :)

Change
I just changed everything on my Twitter account and it got me thinking about how much change happens in a lifetime. I know you're thinking, "you are only 21 years old how could you have experienced a lifetime of change?" The thing is, even in my 21 years of living on this earth, I have encountered more change than I could even begin to list.
The main change is technology. Whether it is cell phones, the internet, cell phones with Internet or computers, technology has changed the way we live.
Here's a little story for you. When my mom was in college from 1982 to 1986 she lived in a typical dorm at Mount Saint Mary's College in Los Angeles, Ca. Her dorm, along with every other dorm in the country, had one phone per floor that students' family and friends would call in on. Because residents were hardly in their rooms, other residents would answer the phone and take messages for their fellow floor mates. This meant students were often times unable to communicate with their friends of family if they were not in their dorm. Although this makes most students today cringe, I sometimes wish society would go back to this mentality.

Technology, especially the technology on smart phones, has become more important than friendship. Instead of going out to dinner and enjoying friends' company, it is now not uncommon to see the entire table on their cell phone. But why? Is Twitter, Facebook or that text from your acquaintance really that much more important than listening to the person across the table from you? I understand using it to pull up a LivingSocial deal, but when your cell phone becomes your source for entertainment when you have friends or family with you, it evolves into pathetic.
Now I am not saying technology is bad, but maybe next time instead of pulling out your phone while waiting in line at the diner or Stamp to tweet about how excited you are for stir fry or Chick-fil-A you look to the person next to you and engage in conversation. After all, as humans we communicate whether we want to or not, so maybe we should stop communicating on the Internet and start communicating more in person.

Consider this.
This Weekend
Last Friday I went to Matchbox in Chinatown, D.C. Not only was the food delicious, but the atmosphere was relaxing and the waitress was attentive.
I split an appetizer of mozzi carrozzi, which was essentially a glorified grilled cheese, and pizza, which was straight from their brick oven. Although their cocktails were expensive, especially for this newly-21 year old college student, I had one and I would order it again and again.
Saturday was the University of Maryland's men's lacrosse team's season opener. The team started with a splash by defeating Hartford 12-6. This was my first lacrosse game in the press box, so it was cool to see a different perspective and really start to understand the rules. Although I played girls lacrosse in high school, the men's version couldn't be any more different.
The real excitement in Maryland athletics came on Sunday when the women's basketball team defeated Duke. Alyssa Thomas swatted the winning Duke three-pointer away as time expired.
Things I've learned -
- Wining and dining is fun.
- Always keep an extra pair of panty hose in your car.
- Don't expect too much from people.
- Always remember to smile. :)

Yesterday
Main Highlight: walking home from work at midnight.
Basically, Rt. 1 was full of drunk people at that time of night and their antics were hilarious. I bought a sub at Jimmy Johns (so delicious) with Vince and watched as a girl proceeded to scream her order to the cashier and belt the words to every song that came on the radio while announcing to the world how wonderful Jimmy Johns is. But, after she almost fell of her stool and passed out she left with her friend for the night.
On the walk home from there I saw:
- A cop come screaming up on a car stopped at a stop sign, then proceed to watch that car turn right and then follow the poor car to pull it over for what appeared to be no good reason. (CP cops were out on full force - I think I saw a total of five within 30 minutes).
- Kappa Sigma's fire alarm in their house was blaring as I walked by and just as I passed the large house, a fire truck screamed up with its lights and siren on. I hope everything is okay in the house, but I assumed it was just a malfunction because no one else seemed worried.
Those were the highlights, but my conclusion is I wish I could have been apart of the mayhem instead of a bystander on her walk home from work. Trust me, I looked like a complete nerd with a backpack on and khakis, but I promise that is just my work attire.
Other Highlight:
Being starred down by Nick Faust after the following dunk. Needless to say, it made Sportscenter's Top 10.

Sicky
I am not keeping up with this like I should be, but it is now on my list of things to do every day so hopefully that will now remind me.
Valentine's Day was yesterday and it was great - all thanks to Vince. He bought me flowers, skittles (my fav), a scarf to go with my red pea coat, a flower Pandora charm and a watch (although it would hardly fit a child's wrist). You may think that would take the cake for being an awesome gift, right? But, you're wrong. You see, I didn't get out of class until 6:15 p.m., so we couldn't go out for dinner. Instead, he made me a delicious dinner consisting of salmon (one of my favorites), asparagus, a baked potato and wine. Needless to say it was a really good night, besides being sick. Oh right, that was another gift he gave me earlier in the week- a full-blown cold. I'm sure I'll survive though, so I forgive him.
As for today, besides being sick it was an ordinary day. Vince and I ate at Ledos Pizza in College Park to help TerpThon. Unfortunately, we didn't realize we had to bring a slip for our waiter, so we didn't actually contribute to the cause, but it's the thought that counts, right?
I wish my life was more exciting like all the euro-blogs I have been reading lately, but College Park will have to do for right now.
A few interesting thoughts:
- Christmas lights remind me of stars
- Nyquil knocks me out (I'm surprised I haven't fallen asleep while writing this)
- Vince remains the best boyfriend around
- The green bus runs too frequently and has too few people riding it (can you say waste of money?)
- This crazy weather needs to start being constant
- I need to start dabbling in photography again. I miss it and this blog needs more pictures ASAP
